The Tara Haoa Range is a mountain range in the Canterbury region of the South Island of New Zealand .

geography

The Tara Haoa Range is located at the northwest end of the Canterbury Plains between the Harper Range and the Moorhouse Range in the north and northeast, the Ben McLeod Range in the northwest, the High Claytons in the west, the Four Peaks Range in the southwest and the Canterbury Plains in the southeast . The Rangitata River accompanies the mountain range on its north to south-east side . The Hewson River and Orari River flow past the western and southwestern sides of the Tara Haoa Range .

The mountain range, which is around 24 km long and runs in a north-west-south-east direction, finds its highest point at 1743  m high Mount Peel .

Administratively, the Moorhouse Range belongs to the Timaru District .
