Building assessor in the Marienwerder War and Domain Chamber . In 1802 he was appointed building officer. In 1803 he entered a lodge . In 1804 he became war and domain council and hydraulic engineering director and worked as assistant to the war and domain council and head hydraulic engineering director ED Neuwertz. Because of the overload caused by the many trips to the department and latent tensions between the two officials, Cochius asked for his departure in 1805. In the spring of 1810 he was employed as a secret senior building officer in the senior building deputation and was given the vacant council position for surveying, measurement and weight police .
