Tasavallan Presidentti ( President of the Republic ) is a Finnish jazz / prog / rock band.
history
The band was founded in 1969 by guitarist Jukka Tolonen and drummer Vesa Aaltonen. Other founding members were Måns Groundstroem and Frank Robson, who had previously played for the Blues Section. Juhani Aaltonen used to be a member of the band Soulset. He was replaced by Pekka Pöyry in 1970. Eero Raittinen replaced Robson as singer in 1972, the same year the album Lambertland was released in the UK. The album is a fusion album with very innovative and inventive lyrics. The band broke up in 1974, but is now back in business.
