Bag (clothes)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A bag is sewn into a piece of clothing or a small bag sewn onto something , for carrying small objects or for inserting a cloth for decoration.

The term bag with regard to the containers on or in the clothing is a term naturalized from North German. In the Swabian-Alemannic language areas we speak of Seckel or purse (a small bag). The term is widespread in modifications (Säckchesack, Säckchedasch) as far as the southern Hessian part of the Franconian language region. Clothes bags only existed in Europe from the 16th century , before that, belly or belt pockets were used to store smaller everyday objects.
