Pigeon tower (Dorst)

The Dorster Taubenturm is a pigeon tower in the Calvörder district of Dorst . The tower is on the site at Dorfstrasse 5. It is a listed building .

Architecture and history

The pigeon tower is presumably in the early days of Dorst as a tower reaching back from the schulenburgisches Vorwerk of Detzel Castle . It was created around the middle of the 19th century. The astonishingly spacious half-timbered architecture has an octagonal floor plan . The tower is two-story with tile infills and an eight-sided helmet roof with tile covering. In terms of construction type, architecture and age, this tower is also a notable monument in terms of cultural history .
