Pigeon tower (Verdeney)
The pigeon tower (French colombier or pigeonnier ) in the hamlet of Verdeney in the French commune of Coulaures in the Dordogne department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region was built in the 16th or 17th century. The pigeon tower north of the hamlet has a diameter of 5.35 to 5.40 meters.
The round tower with a southern door is covered by a roof with stone slabs, above which a pyramidal lantern rises, which is closed with flat tiles. The masonry made of quarry stone is plastered outside and inside. Only the door is bordered with stone . The floor is covered with stone slabs. The pigeon nests on the inner wall are made of wood. The space is closed off by a vault over which the wooden structure of the two roofs is located.
