The Tauern Spa World is a thermal spa resort in the tourist region of Zell am See - Kaprun with an attached hotel .
Location and surroundings
The Tauern Spa World (also Tauernspa Kaprun) is located in the Salzburger Pinzgau , state Salzburg , Austria . The resort is in the municipality of Kaprun approx. 6 km from the valley station of the Kaprun glacier cable car to the Kitzsteinhorn and Lake Zell .
History of origin
The first plans arose from the considerations for a tourist repositioning after the fire disaster in the railway on the Kitzsteinhorn in 2000. After healing water was found in the area of Kaprun Castle during deep boreholes , the wellness and spa facilities in Kaprun with construction costs of € 83 million Adventure pool including hotel complex with a total of 2,100 m² of water was built. The foundation stone was laid on September 4th, 2008. The opening took place on December 2, 2010. The operating company is the Vamed Group.
architecture
The team from “skyline architects ZT GmbH” is responsible for the architecture. The design was adapted to the corresponding location in the mountain and natural scenery. The full glass façade provides a clear view of the 3,203 m high Kitzsteinhorn.
When building the facility, great importance was attached to accessibility . Handicapped accessible rooms are connected to the reception by an alarm system. Showers are equipped with a seat and there is a second telephone in the bathroom. The lifts are right next to the barrier-free rooms, and the resort facilities are step-free. In the spa area there are wheelchair-accessible changing facilities and toilets. Mobile entry aids are available at the pools.
The Tauern Spa World facility consists of a 4 * superior resort hotel and a water and sauna world with an indoor and outdoor area of around 20,000 m². The sauna and wellness world is equipped with Finnish saunas, oven saunas, herbal saunas, organic saunas, brine laconium and aromatic steam baths. A separate sauna area has been created for guests with swimwear. For children there is a special children's spa called Kidstein with a 127 m long slide. In addition to an animation program, there is also a playground, a climbing wall, a volleyball court and a multimedia and creative room. The water world is divided into an indoor and outdoor area. The indoor area includes an active pool, a flow channel, a relaxation pool with a grotto, a high pool with a water cascade and differently staged relaxation and lounging areas. The outdoor area consists of a brine relaxation pool and a 25-meter sports pool.
For business people 6 meeting and conference rooms with up to 240 seats were created in the area.
Economical meaning
The Tauern Spa World with its 160 rooms (approx. 320 beds) is expected to generate 90,000–100,000 overnight stays and 320,000 day visitors annually in the future. Tauern Spa World currently employs 185 people, 100 of whom come from Pinzgau .
Tourist conception
In line with the alpine tradition of the location, the Tauern Spa World sees itself as a base camp for expeditions both externally and internally. In the alpine sense it is a base for longer expeditions such as skiing, snowboarding, ice climbing, ice skating, mountain biking and hiking on the mountain. For expeditions inside, the wellness offers such as massages, sauna and brine treatments etc. can be viewed. The main target groups are mountaineers, families and business tourists. The Tauern Spa World has its own wedding team available for weddings.
