Taurus Tomahawk

Taurus Tomahawk is the name of a two-stage sounding rocket , consisting of a Taurus launch stage (demilitarized rocket Honest John ) and a tomahawk upper stage. The Taurus Tomahawk was launched 15 times between 1978 and 1987. The starting places were Wallops Island (USA, Virginia) and Poker Flat (USA, Alaska), as well as Punta Lobos (Peru) and Søndre Strømfjord (Greenland). The Taurus Tomahawk was able to carry 27 kilograms of payload to a height of 618 kilometers. The launch thrust of the Taurus Tomahawk was 457 kN, the launch mass 1.611 tons, the diameter 0.58 meters and the total length 9.38 meters.
