Tav Falco (* 25. May 1945 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania as Gustavo Antonio Falco ) is an American musician, actor and documentary filmmaker.

Career

Tav Falco started his career in 1973 when he went to Memphis , Tennessee to make documentaries about legendary blues musicians. Inspired by this, Falco founded his first band, Tav Falco's Panther Burns , better known under the short name Panther Burns, with Alex Chilton and James Luther Dickinson .

In 1981, Tav recorded his first album Behind the Magnolia Curtain , which received good reviews. Falco then went to New York City , New York, where he released his EP Blow Your Top on Animal Records .

In the further course of the 1980s and 1990s he shuttled with his psychedelic rock show between Europe and the United States and took on new records with Panther Burns in various lineups. He also played supporting roles in music films such as Downtown 81 , Highway 61 and Great Balls of Fire .

He often covered well-known rockabilly and rock'n'roll songs, which he adapted to his style.
