The Taylor County Courthouse in Bedford is the Justice and Administration Building ( Courthouse ) of Taylor County in the southwest of the US -amerikanischen state of Iowa .
The current building is the second courthouse in Taylor County, founded in 1847. The first building was a stone building erected in 1863, but it gradually became too small for its task. The current building was opened in 1892.
The three-story building was built from bricks and limestone in the neo-Romanesque style according to a design by the architect FM Ellis . The building is dominated by a bell tower that can be seen from afar. A memorial to those who died in the American Civil War stands on the lawn on the south facade of the building .
In 1981 the building called Grand Old Lady was added to the National Register of Historic Places with reference number 81000271 .
