Bedford is a small town (with the status " City ") and the administrative seat of Taylor County in the US -amerikanischen State Iowa . In 2010 Bedford had 1,440 residents, the number of which decreased to 1,406 by 2013.

Bedford is located in the southwest of Iowa on the west bank of the eastern headwaters of the One Hundred and Two River , which is part of the Mississippi River basin via the Platte River and the Missouri River . The border with the neighboring state of Missouri runs seven miles south. About 100 km west of Bedford, the Missouri River forms the border between Iowa and Nebraska .
