The Teal Ponds are a series of lakes in South Georgia . They are located in a tussock- overgrown valley 500 m south of Dartmouth Point on the east side of Moraine Fjord .
Scientists from the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey carried out rough measurements and naming in 1951. It is named after a subspecies of the pointed-tailed duck ( English South Georgian teal , Latin Anas georgica georgica ) living on South Georgia , which can be found in large numbers in these lakes.
