Tecate is a city in the Mexican state of Baja California . It has 64,764 inhabitants and is the capital of the municipality of the same name Tecate with 101,079 inhabitants (as of 2010).
history
The city was founded in 1861. In 1914 a railway station was built in Tecate. In 1954 the Municipio Tecate was founded.
Others
There is a beer brand named after the city (Tecate and Tecate Light) that has been part of FEMSA since 1954 . The company still operates a brewery in Tecate today.
