Teddy Newton

Teddy Newton (born March 3, 1964 in Encino ) is an American animator , director and actor .

Life

Newton grew up in Dana Point . He attended the California Institute of the Arts and finished his education in the early 1990s. He then worked at Walt Disney Productions and Dreamworks, among others . At Warner Bros. Newton worked alongside Brad Bird on the film The Giant from Space . Newton was also increasingly active as a freelance animator. He produced the film The Trouble with Lou , on whose screenplay he also co-wrote, and was involved, among other things, as a screenwriter and director in the animated film Boys Night Out , which was nominated for an Annie Award .

In 2002 Newton went to Pixar and designed, among other things, the characters for the film The Incredibles . He also worked with Brad Bird on Ratatouille , Your Friend the Rat , Presto, and Partly Cloudy . He also lent his voice to numerous Pixar animation characters and appeared in short films as an actor.

Newton acted as screenwriter and director in the short animation film Day & Night , for which he was nominated for an Oscar in 2011 .

Awards

For Day & Night Newton was nominated for an Oscar in the category “ Best Animated Short Film ” in 2011 , but could not prevail against The Lost Thing .
