Okano Teiichi

Okano Teiichi ( Japanese 岡野 貞 一 ; born February 16, 1878 in Tottori , Japanese Empire , † December 29, 1941 in Japan) was a Japanese composer , music teacher and organist .

Life

Okano studied from 1892 at the Tokyo Conservatory (Tōkyō Ongaku Gakkō), today part of the Tokyo University of the Arts . After graduating, he became a music teacher in his hometown. From 1932 until his retirement he was a lecturer for orchestra conductors. In addition, he worked for 40 years as a choirmaster and organist at the Central Church in Tokyo Hongu .

His many songs made him a well-known composer of his time.
