Werner Tscholl (* 1955 in Latsch ) is an Italian architect from South Tyrol .

life and work

Tscholl studied architecture at the University of Florence until 1981 . He has been running his own architectural office in Morter in Vinschgau since 1983 .

Tscholl gained notoriety in particular through his projects for private residential buildings in South Tyrol. He also drew attention to himself by adapting historical buildings (such as Sigmundskron Castle near Bozen ) and projects for commercial buildings (such as the Tramin winery ). The extension of the school for agriculture and forestry in Burgeis in Vinschgau is remarkable . Because of the landscape and ensemble protection, a building next to the Fürstenburg , the seat of the school, was not possible. Tscholl has hollowed out the hillside next to the castle and "hidden" the three-storey new building in it: Only the entrances are visible in the previously existing retaining wall next to the access road; Structure. After four years of planning (2000–2004), construction work began and the keys were handed over on September 10, 2011.

In 2002 Tscholl took part in the Venice Architecture Biennale . Various solo exhibitions have been dedicated to his award-winning work (1993 and 2006 Premio Architettura Città di Oderzo , 2006 and 2008 Dedalo Minosse Prize , 2016 Premio Architetto Italiano ).
