TEJO

TEJO ( Tutmonda Esperantista Junulara Organizo , in German mostly Esperanto World Youth Organization or Esperanto World Youth for short ) is an organization for Esperanto speakers up to the age of 30. The seat is in Rotterdam . In 1938 the Tutmonda Junular-Organizo (World Youth Organization) was founded and renamed to its current name in 1952 . In 1956 TEJO became the youth section of the UEA . In 1971, finances and administration were fully integrated into the UEA.

The association organizes an international youth congress at different locations every year . This is a week-long meeting with concerts, presentations, excursions and some other leisure and recreational opportunities, but also discussion and educational events. The number of participants is usually a few hundred, with participants coming from a few dozen countries.

The association promotes international understanding through youth encounters, educational programs and the use of the world auxiliary language Esperanto. The association defends the cultural richness of linguistic diversity, the human rights of linguistic minorities and global understanding through easy access to international contacts.

The Association are two periodicals: Kontakto and TEJO Tutmonde (TEJO Worldwide); also update TEJO on the Internet . For some years now, Kontakto has been aimed more at beginners and young readers and contains articles on general topics in simple language. TEJO Tutmonde provides news about Esperanto youth activities internationally. TEJO-aktuell provides information about the latest in Esperanto .

The association also organizes Pasporta Servo , a network of Esperanto speakers who offer free accommodation to others.
