Teke (also East Teke, Ibali, Kiteke and Teke-Ibali) is a Bantu language and is spoken by around 203,200 people in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of the Congo .

It is widespread in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the territories of Kwamouth and Masina and the province of Kinshasa with around 167,000 speakers and in the Republic of the Congo in the Pool region with around 36,200 speakers.

Teke is written in the Latin script . Approximately 65-85% of the second-language speakers can read and write.

Teke and other languages ​​form the group of Teke languages . According to the classification of Malcolm Guthrie , Teke belongs to the Guthrie zone B70.

Teke has the dialects Mosieno, Ngee (also Esingee) and Bali (also Ambali, Teo, Tio and Tyo).
