The Telephone Point ( Polish Patelnia , frying pan ' ) is a headland on the south coast of King George Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is located around 3 km southwest of Demay Point .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1977 in connection with the Telefon Rocks after the SS Telefon , a cargo steamer built in 1900 under the Norwegian flag, which sailed onto a reef off King George Island in 1908. The Polish name, however, is descriptive.
