Teleiopsis latisacculus is a butterfly ( moth ) fromthe palm moth family (Gelechiidae).

features

The moths reach a wingspan of 15 to 17 millimeters. The labial palps are whitish, each segment has two black rings. The thorax and the scales on the wing joint of the mesothorax ( tegulae ) are colored like the front wings. The antennae are ringed whitish and black. The forewings are blackish brown and ocher and mottled whitish. An angled black transverse band is in the first quarter of the wing. Two spots, which are surrounded by raised orange scales, are in the middle of the wing and in the third quarter of the forewing. Inner wing edge, subcostal line and wing outer edge are ocher colored. The scale fringes are dark gray and have a black base line. The hind wings are dark gray. The light areas of the second pair of legs are pale pink. The few individuals examined so far show little variability.

Similar species

Teleiopsis latisacculus is very similar to Teleiopsis diffinis and Teleiopsis bagriotella , the latter being the larger.

Occurrence

In Europe, Teleiopsis latisacculus is widespread in North Macedonia . Outside of Europe, the species inhabits areas from Turkey to Egypt .

Way of life

Teleiopsis latisacculus has been bred on spice sumach ( Rhus coriaria ) and a single specimen on turpentine pistachio ( Pistacia terebinthus ).

Flight and caterpillar times

The moths fly from May to June.
