Telemann Chamber Orchestra Osaka

The Telemann Chamber Orchestra ( Japanese テ レ マ ン 室内 オ ー ケ ス ト ラ , Tereman Shitsunai Ōkesutra , until the renaming in 2009 also テ レ マ ン 室内 管弦 楽 団 , Tereman Shitsunai Kangen Gakudan ; English Telemann Chamber Orchestra in the Osaka professional chamber orchestra ) is a professional Japanese chamber orchestra .

It was founded in 1963 by the Japanese conductor and oboist Takeharu Nobuhara and is under the patronage of the Japanese Telemann Society for Baroque Music . The orchestra is also an associate member of the Japanese Orchestra Association . It is committed to both modern and historical performance practice . In the early days, the orchestra was usually successful in historical performance practice under the name Collegium Musicum Telemann ( コ レ ギ ウ ム ・ ム ジ ク ム ・ テ レ マ ン ), but today only as a Telemann chamber orchestra. It is based in the Kita-ku district of Osaka, where there is a monthly concert in the historic building of the Osaka Club ( 大阪 倶 楽 部 ).

The orchestra has received several awards, including the Suntory Music Prize and in 2007 the Osaka Culture Festival Prize for a performance of Haydn's oratorio The Seasons . In 2003 the orchestra gave concerts at the Leipzig Bach Festival .
