Telephassa

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Telephassa ( Greek  Τηλέφασσα ) is a person from Greek mythology.

She is the wife of Agenor in the library of Apollodorus , with whom she has the children Europa , Kadmos , Phoinix and Kilix . After Zeus stole Europe , at the request of her husband, she and her sons go on a futile search for the abductee. Because she is not allowed to return home without her daughter, she finally settles with Kadmos in Thrace . There she dies and is buried by Kadmos.

In the Epyllion Europa of the ancient Greek poet Moschos , Telephassa appears as the daughter of the sea god Poseidon and the Libye; from her husband Phoinix she becomes the mother of Europa. With Stephanos of Byzantium and in a scholium she is called Telephe ( Greek  Τηλέφη ) and later married Thasos . Their son was Galepsos, the founder of the city of Galepsos .
