Thasos (son of Agenor)
Thasos ( ancient Greek Θάσος ) also Thassos was the son of the Phoenician king Agenor from Tire in Greek mythology . According to another tradition he was the son of Poseidon and thus the brother of Agenor or, according to Pherecydes, the son of Kilix , the son of Agenor.
When Zeus kidnapped Europa , the daughter of Agenor and Telephassa , Agenor sent his sons to find them again or not to return. Thasos went on a search with Kadmos and Telephassa. They eventually landed on the island of Thasos . While Kadmos traveled on, Thasos stayed on the island and founded a Phoenician colony with his companions, which was named after him. This is said to have happened five generations before the birth of Heracles . Thasos married Telephassa and with her fathered Galepsos, the founder of the city of Galepsos .
