The upper viewing platform is 13.2 meters high and can be reached via the 47 steps inside the control room and the 13 steps of the iron staircase from the lower platform, which is about 10.7 meters high. The view extends from the foothills of the Alps over the Tullnerfeld and over the Danube far into the Weinviertel .
history
The construction of the control room was decided by the Altenburg municipal council on June 26, 1906 in honor of Emperor Franz Joseph I on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of his reign; The opening took place on September 27, 1908; the orthopedic surgeon Adolf Lorenz gave the speech .
After the Second World War, the control room was very dilapidated, but the Klosterneuburg section of the Austrian Tourist Club was able to maintain it and repair it with the help of numerous subsidies amounting to 16,000 schillings. The ceremonial reopening took place on October 7, 1956. In 1980 the control room was returned to the community of St. Andrä-Wierter.
