history

In the 16th century, the residents of Désaignes accepted the Reformation , after the Edict of Nantes they built their own church in 1608. This was destroyed in 1684 on the eve of the revocation of the edict. After the French Revolution, today's Temple Protestant was built in 1822.

The Temple Protestant is a hall building oriented approximately to the north. At its northeast corner is the bell tower, which in its basement represents the donjon of the former castle. The tower was built around 1200 and has finely crafted Romanesque window openings. The north wall of the church shows a wall supported by three massive buttresses. It goes back to the so-called auditorium of the castle complex, built in the 13th and 14th centuries. Century. This auditorium is being reconstructed by building research as a rectangular complex with two levels of 22 m in length. Further north of the church are other remains of the castle. The west wall of the church shows a simple neo-Romanesque facade. A stone from the old Protestant church with the year 1608 was inserted into it. After a fire in 1963, the church was renovated.
