The Temple protestant (German: Evangelical Church ) belongs to a Lutheran congregation within the United Protestant Church of France in Tavey in the Haute-Saône department ( Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region ).

history

In the Middle Ages, Tavey belonged to the possessions of the Lure Abbey . The core of today's Evangelical Church goes back to the medieval parish church of Taveys, which was probably consecrated to St. Germanus. The chancel of the church with the buttresses and the lancet window in the east wall is still a building stock from the Romanesque period.

After Tavey came into the possession of the House of Württemberg , the Reformation was introduced at the church in 1565 and the congregation became Lutheran. In 1700, after the French conquest of the place, a Simultaneum of Lutherans and Catholics was set up at the church . The bell tower of the church was given its shape in 1727, the nave in 1760. The Simultaneum finally ended in 1908, when the Catholics built their own church in the village.
