Teneng Mba Jaiteh

Teneng Mba Jaiteh (born October 9, 1963 ; spelling variant: Tenengba Jaiteh or Teneba Jaiteh ) is a Gambian politician and diplomat.

Life

From 1976 to 1983 she attended the Gambia High School in Banjul . She then studied Modern History at the University of Sierra Leone from 1985 to 1989 . In 1993 she graduated from the London School of Economics and Political Science with a Masters Degree in Development Studies .

From 1998 she worked in various positions in the Ministry of Finance and Economy .

Jaiteh 2003 was Deputy Secretary of State in Gambia Department of State for Finance and Economic Affairs , and from 2008 to 2009 Secretary of Public Administration ( English Secretary General of the Government and Head of the Civil Service ).

May 29, 2009 Jaiteh was by President Yahya Jammeh to the Cabinet as Deputy Minister of Petroleum and Mining ( English Deputy Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources appointed). From February 2012 she was Minister for Petroleum, from December 2012 to 2014 she headed the Ministry of Energy.

In 2014 she was sent to Brussels as an ambassador for the European Union . In addition, she is responsible for Germany, Poland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

In December 2016, Jaiteh and ten other Gambian ambassadors signed a letter to President Yahya Jammeh , who refused to accept the result of the lost presidential election on December 1. Jaiteh and 11 other ambassadors were dismissed in January 2017, but reinstated by President Adama Barrow in February 2017 .

Jaiteh has three children.
