Tenthredopsis nassata is a plant wasp from the family of Real sawflies (Tenthredinidae).
features
The species reaches a body length of 10–12 mm. The plant wasp species has a variable color. In addition to an orange color variant, there is a red-black one. The scutellum is yellow. There are 4 yellow spots behind it. The wings are transparent. The pterostigma of the orange color variant is whitish-yellow at the base, the Costa veins yellow. In contrast to Tenthredopsis sordida , there is no black longitudinal band on the ventral side.
distribution
The species occurs in the western Palearctic . It is widespread in Europe. The species is not represented on the Irish island .
Way of life
The typical habitat of Tenthredopsis nassata are meadows and hedges. The plant wasps can be seen from May to August. The nocturnal larvae can be found on sweet grasses (Poaceae), in particular the common ball grass ( Dactylis glomerata ) and the turf smear ( Deschampsia cespitosa ), as well as on sour grass plants (Cyperaceae). The larvae feed on the leaves of these plants.
Natural enemies
The larvae are u. a. of the parasitic wasps -Art Dyspetes luteomarginatus parasitized.
