Teodors Zaļkalns
Teodors Zaļkalns (born Grīnbergs, born November 30, 1876 in Allaži , Russian Empire , † June 9, 1972 in Riga , Latvian SSR ) was a Latvian or Soviet sculptor.
Zalkalns was born in the house of his father Eduards Grīnbergs and grew up in different places in today's Sigulda district . He learned the basics of art in St. Petersburg at the Central Technical Drawing School founded by Alexander von Stieglitz . He then traveled through various European countries.
Zalkalns died at the age of 95 and is buried in the Rainis cemetery.
