The Tercan Dam ( Tercan Barajı in Turkish ) is located in the small town of Tercan in the Turkish province of Erzincan on the course of the Tuzla Çayı , a left tributary of the Karasu .
The Tercan dam was built in 1969–1988 as a debris dam with a clay core . It is used for irrigation and energy generation . The dam is 57 m high and has a volume of 3.1 million m³. The associated reservoir covers an area of 9.36 km² and has a storage volume of 176 million m³. The dam is used to irrigate an area of 14,000 hectares. The Tercan dam's hydropower plant has an installed capacity of 15 megawatts . The standard work capacity is 51 GWh per year.
