Corral de Almaguer is a Spanish municipality in the province of Toledo in the autonomous region of Castile-La Mancha . In 2019 there were 5352 inhabitants in the municipality. The municipal area is 328.7 km².

history

The municipality is located on the banks of the Riánsares River, the name Almaguer comes from the Arabic al-Magid and means irrigation canal.

There has been evidence of these settlements in the area since the Neolithic . The interpretation of the large number of archaeological remains, mainly through the excavations on Cerro del Castillo Gollino mountain with the discovery of a walled settlement from the Iron Age . The examination of the artefacts using the radiocarbon method C14 confirm the correctness of this assumption of the archaeologists.

In 1312 Diego Muñiz, Grand Master of the Order of Santiago , granted the privilege with the title of Villa.
