The species is common in Europe and North Africa, east to Siberia. It was introduced into North America by humans. It is widespread in Germany and common in many places. It is the most common species of its genus in the southwest. In Austria it is just as widespread and not uncommon. Open, moderately humid habitats are populated.

Way of life

The bugs live mainly on common yarrow ( Achillea millefolium ), more rarely also on tansy ( Tanacetum vulgare ) and other sunflower (Asteraceae) such as chamomiles ( Matricaria ), Artemisia and dog chamomiles ( Anthemis ). The adult bugs appear from late June to mid-September. The females pierce their eggs in the upper parts of the stems of their host plants.
