history
Although very few prehistoric , Roman , Visigoth and Moorish finds have been made, the presence of settlers and soldiers in the area is likely. In 1085 the area was named by Alfonso VI. recaptured ( reconquista ) , but shortly afterwards threatened again by the Berber Almoravids . It was not until Alfonso VII (reigned 1126–1157) that the La Mancha region finally became Christian around 1130. The first written mentions come from around 1200. At that time, Rielves was on the pilgrimage route from the Levant ( Valencia ) via Toledo to Ávila and on to Santiago de Compostela .
Attractions
The three-aisled Iglesia de Santiago Apóstol is dedicated to the Apostle James the Elder. Ä. , the spiritual leader of the Reconquista. The outer walls show broken and brick masonry based on the Mudéjar style . The flatly closing apse is slightly raised compared to the nave .
