Harriet Sofie Bosse (born February 19, 1878 in Oslo , † November 2, 1961 in Oslo) was a Norwegian actress .

Life

Harriet Bosse was born on February 19, 1878 in Oslo, the thirteenth of fourteen children of Anne-Marie Bosse and Johann Heinrich Bosse. She had a German father who was a writer . She became interested in acting at an early age, probably through two of her sisters, Alma (1863–1947) and Dagmar (1866–1954). At the age of 3 she moved to Stockholm with her parents . At the age of ten she attended various drama schools in Sweden and Norway and was only taught acting by her sisters. At the age of 18 she took part in her first play Romeo and Juliet , which later became world famous.

In 1901 she moved back to Norway, where she continued to work on her acting career. Her parents died that same year, so Bosse was facing a difficult step in her life. In Copenhagen and Paris she played two more plays called Eine große Liebe and Mr. Weng Bang . She also released the film Die Ingmarssöhne in December that same year .

In March 1901 she met the Swedish dramaturge and author August Strindberg , whom she married that same year. Numerous arguments followed until they divorced in December 1904. August wrote two pieces for Harriet Bosse, August wrote six pieces directly to Bosse, which, however, only became known in her own country.

Bosse died of a stroke in Oslo in 1961 and is buried there too.
