Terence Blacker (born February 5, 1948 in Hadleigh , Suffolk ) is a British writer and journalist .

Terence Blacker first worked as an amateur jockey , then for 10 years as a publishing editor (responsible for the works of Jerzy Kosiński ). He has been a full-time writer since 1983, his first children's book "If I Could Work" was published in 1987. His best-known work is the successful Miss Wiss children's book series. Since 1994 he has also been a visiting professor at the University of East England, where he teaches writing. Until the end of 2013, Terence Blacker wrote a weekly column in The Independent newspaper .
