Terence Greaves

Terence Greaves (* 1933 ; † December 27, 2009 ) was an English composer and music teacher.

After finishing school at Buxton College and doing military service in the Royal Signals Staff Band, Greaves studied music at Keble College , Oxford . He then taught at the Birmingham School of Music, where he became Director of Studies. Most recently dean at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester , Greaves took early retirement to work as a freelance composer, accompanist, lecturer and expert on exam questions.

Contacts with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra , particularly the clarinetist John Fuest , resulted in a number of compositions, especially for woodwinds . However, Greaves also wrote vocal music and piano compositions.
