Tern is a folding bike manufacturer from Taiwan. The company has offices in the USA, China, Finland and the UK , but sells and markets its products in 59 countries (as of 2013). Although it only came onto the folding bike market in 2011, the company is internationally recognized and has won various awards. Florence Shen and Joshua Hon are the ex-wife and son of David T. Hon, the founder of Dahon . For the legal dispute with Dahon, see Dahon vs. Tern .

Products

Link D8 folded

Tern offers bikes with wheel sizes from 20 inches to 27.5 inches. Tern wheels have a folding scheme that Tern himself calls "N-Fold". The front frame part is folded back to the left, with the front wheel remaining in the direction of travel. The half-folded wheel looks like a mirror-inverted "N" from above, hence the name. This means that the overall length of the folded wheel is less than that of an upturned front wheel. On the other hand, the width of the package is relatively large because of the handlebar folded outwards. At the front, the bike stands on the retracted seat post, as do Dahon bikes, which fold a little differently.

Tern also offers accessories such as bicycle bags, travel bags for bicycles, luggage racks and a multifunctional tool under its sister brand BioLogic .

Cooperations

Some transport associations are offering the Link C8 model at a special price in cooperation with Tern and the ADFC . This is intended to encourage commuters to use public transport, as folding bicycles (folded) are not only allowed to be taken on the U-Bahn and S-Bahn during rush hour (6–9am and 4–6pm), but also on buses.
