Terra-3
Terra-3 is a laser test center located on the Kazakh missile test site in Saryschagan .
development
The development of laser weapons began in 1964 in the Soviet Union . The experimental design office Vympel was the first to work on these weapons. Construction of the Terra 3 research complex began in the 1970s. It should missile defense - or anti-satellite weapons (ABM and ASAT) are being developed, but even the high-energy ruby laser and carbon dioxide laser of Astrofisika that were installed, were not enough to counter ballistic missiles are used to. The first applications were therefore anti-satellite weapons and primarily served to dazzle the optical sensors of spy satellites.
