Terra Mítica ( German : mythical earth ) is an amusement park in Benidorm ( Alicante province , Spain ). The focus is on rides and water rides, such as water slides, torrent rides, carousels and roller coasters based on the American model. A battle on the pirate ship is also on the program. The backdrops are modeled on the ancient civilizations of the Mediterranean. Therefore, the park is divided into five zones: Egypt , Greece , Rome , Iberian Peninsula and The Islands , all of which are located around a lake representing the Mediterranean. The presentation dispenses with regional or historical information.

history

After the opening in 2000, the majority of the 40 hectare park was bought by Paramount Parks and operated until 2004 with the addition of "a Paramount Park". In October 2001 a contract was signed, which Paramount assured the management of the park for four years. In 2004 Paramount sold its shares to the Valencia region and withdrew from the park. From May 2004 to November 2006, the park was in insolvency protection and became debt-free again in mid-2006 through the sale of adjacent properties. In the same year, the park made a profit for the first time since it was founded.
