Kirnu in the amusement park Linnanmäki ( Helsinki , Uusimaa , Finland ) is a steel roller coaster model Zac Spin from the manufacturer Intamin , which opened on April 27, 2007. It is located between Vekkula (the fun house) and the park's show stage.

It was the first of two existing ZacSpin roller coasters worldwide. An identical facility was opened on July 21, 2007 in the Spanish amusement park Terra Mítica as Inferno .

The ZacSpin model is the 4th dimension coaster version from the manufacturer Intamin. In contrast to the models from Arrow or S&S Power, the rollover of the seats is not carried out in a controlled manner. The seats of the cars roll over uncontrollably during the journey at speeds of up to 60 km / h, so that each journey is different depending on the weight and distribution of the passengers. Too fast rotation is avoided by built-in eddy current brakes .

The entire rail construction, which is a maximum of 25 meters high, is suspended from just four load-bearing supports. Because of this, and because the route, which is only 142 meters long, has no horizontal curves, the system only requires a very small space of 12 × 25 meters.

In contrast to the ZacSpin prototype , the two systems do not use linear synchronous motors , but a hydraulically driven chain elevator. The elevator takes the cars over the highest point of the route in about 29 seconds. The actual journey only takes about 13 seconds. On the winding route, the passengers roll over several times until the cars are braked by eddy current brakes on an almost vertical descent in front of the station.

Trains

Kirnu owns three cars, each weighing around 3.5 tons. Eight people can be seated in two rows in each carriage.

The rows of seats in the carriages span the rails. Thus, two of the four people in a row sit on one side of the rail, while the other two sit on the other side of the rail. The second row of seats sits back to back with the first.
