Nancy Drew - Girl Detective (Original title: Nancy Drew ) is an American crime film from 2007 by director Andrew Fleming , who also wrote the screenplay with Tiffany Paulsen . The character of Nancy Drew is based on an American youth book series.
action
Underage Nancy Drew and her father Carson, a lawyer, move to Los Angeles . They rent a house in which the actress Dehlia Draycott was previously murdered. Nancy investigates despite her father's prohibition, which suggests that school activities are her main field of activity. She learns that single mother Jane Brighton is a daughter of Dehlia Draycott. An anonymous caller tells Nancy to stop researching.
Brighton complains to Nancy that their child has been taken away from her. Nancy asks her father to take on this case. She realizes that there must be a hidden will in favor of Jane Brighton. Nancy finds it, but is kidnapped. She escapes, is involved in a car accident and receives medical treatment in a hospital. Her father appears accompanied by the attorney Dashiel Biedermeyer - who once dealt with the actress' house - and demands explanations. It turns out that Biedermeyer is the mastermind behind the intrigue; he and his helpers are overwhelmed by the caretaker Leshing.
It turns out that Leshing is the father of Jane Brighton. Brighton sets up a home for single mothers in the house while the Drews return to their hometown.
Reviews
Lael Loewenstein wrote in Variety magazine on June 11, 2007 that the alleged attempt to adapt the adventures of the young detective for the new generation of teenagers offered "old-fashioned" clichés of mystery films instead . The adaptation is "wooden through and through" . ( "Purportedly an attempt to modernize the young detective's adventures for a new generation of tweens, the pic instead serves up stale mystery-movie cliches and overcooked red herrings in a thoroughly wooden adaptation." ) Despite the presence of TV star Emma Roberts, enthusiasm is rich not looking for great results at the box office; the prospects for DVD releases are better.
Sheri Linden wrote in The Hollywood Reporter on June 11, 2007 that the outcome of the River Heights meeting with Mulholland Drive was "lackluster" ; it seems more "routine" than inspired. The leading actress brings the necessary composure and self-confidence, but she never overcomes a certain emptiness.
Awards
Emma Roberts was nominated for the Teen Choice Award in 2007 in two categories .
