Teschner Kreis ( Polish obwód cieszyński , also cyrkuł cieszyński , Czech Těšínský kraj ) was a district in Austrian Silesia in the years 1783-1850. The district included the eastern part of Austrian Silesia around Teschen (also called East Silesia), as well as the area around Königsberg in the western part (West Silesia).

The district was created through reforms of Joseph II. The Moravian-Silesian Provincial Government with its seat in Brno was created , which was divided into 8 districts, including two in Austrian Silesia (Teschen and Troppau). Königsberg was attached to the Teschner Kreis in order to enlarge the recruiting area of ​​the Galician Infantry Regiment No. 45. The district was led by district chiefs, only the first, Jan Larisch-Mönnich, came from the area itself. The end of the circle brought the revolution of 1848/1849 in the Austrian Empire , in 1850 an administrative reform took place. Austrian Silesia became independent again. Eastern Silesia was initially divided into three districts: Bielitz , Teschen and Friedek .
