testsuite.de

testsuite.de is a web application for the creation and transparent assessment of written performance records to support didactic quality management.

The testsuite supports the creation and analysis of learning progress controls (tests, exams , receipts, etc.) in (university) school processes and in personnel management . With its cognitive- constructivist basis and clearly defined processes, it enables a largely comparable, transparent and reproducible, low-scatter assessment of the achievement of learning goals . In addition, administrative tasks are taken over, forms, organizational aids, overviews are supported as far as possible and largely optimized processes are mapped, which are useful for decision-making and more effective work in handling performance reviews.

philosophy

The brain-friendly (cognitive) performance assessment is the focus of attention. As a proposed solution to the problems of subjectivity and heterogeneity of performance measurements, the testsuite contributes to the support of didactic quality management.

The focus is on usability and practicality. In contrast to pure e-learning , the software supports the classic process of written performance reviews in the form of class work and exams :

  1. Create a test on the computer
  2. print out, carry out and collect again
  3. Check the test using the PC
  4. Evaluations are generated automatically

Functions

The system contains the following components :

Test creation

With the help of the test creation, the performance records can be managed. As a result, the user can generate the test as a document in PDF format. The clear didactic structures support teachers and students in measuring learning performance, e.g. B. with the help of:

  • Topic, didactic objective, duration, tools, etc. for planning the test
  • Difficulty profile of the test
  • uniform, structured structure of the tests
  • Task complexes with description of the situation to define this didactic framework
  • Presentation of the points & difficulty for each task

Test evaluation

The test evaluation supports the performance assessment. The overall performance of the course can be statistically evaluated in order to give the learner an overview in relation to the other learners. The automatically generated class list contains the summary of the performance of all participants in a test. In addition to calculated key figures (percent, median and average) and grades , the grade profile of the course is visualized.

Automatically generated report cards serve as personalized feedback for the learner as a detailed evaluation of their own performance. The solution and performance profile ensure that every single point can be traced in detail.

Versions

testsuite 1.0

Evaluation of a test (version 1.0)

The development of the testsuite began in 2001 as a small research project. In the summer of 2002 a first prototype was created, which was further developed from 2003 to version 1.0. As a study, the software version was only made available to a small number of selected users.

testsuite 2.0

Task overview (version 2.1)

Development on version 2 began in June 2006. Two beta versions and several snapshots were released. The final version was released on August 31, 2007. In addition to the technical revision, the results obtained from the practical test were incorporated.

Error-corrected versions appear at irregular intervals, with the last update being released in October 2008 with version number 2.1.

testsuite 3.0

On March 29, 2009 the current version 3.0 was published, which contains a completely revised operating concept .

System requirements

As a web-based application, a web browser and Internet access are natural requirements. The following technical requirements are also made:

  • Program for viewing PDF documents (e.g. Adobe Reader )
  • Printer (recommended)
  • automatic spell check as a browser extension module (recommended)

  • Hans-Jörg Günther: Model presentation and guidelines for successful cross media learning . (Master thesis). Dresden 2003.
