Tex (* 1970 ) is the stage name of the German singer-songwriter and presenter Christoph Drieschner .

Life

Drieschner comes from a scientific family. He studied mathematics and worked as a programmer.

From 1994 to 2000 he was a member of the Hamburg a cappella band The Buddhas , but released his first own recordings as early as 1997, at that time under the name Tex Hindenburg . They also played their own concerts with changing band members.

In 2001 the first publication appeared under the name Tex . The CD of the same name largely contains live recordings from a performance in Bad Aibling . The artwork was adopted here for the first time by the Poschauko brothers - a collaboration that has continued to this day for most of the Tex recordings.

The move from Hamburg to Berlin followed. In 2004 the band played around 50 concerts, including a club tour with their befriended band Juli , which is named after the Tex song of the same name. In the same year the CD “NV69” was released, which consists of live recordings with the line-up Drieschner, Pivo Deinert, Gunter Papperitz, Christian Koops and Greulix Wardrobe.

For the 2005 Bundestag election, Drieschner released the single “You have the choice”, which can also be found on the 2006 album “Aber nachts”. “Aber nachts” presented a multimedia concept album which combines radio play, CD, novel, art book, photo love story and comic and which the author, actor, graphic artist, cameraman, photographer, comic artist, radio play producer and other helpers had worked on for over a year .

In May 2008, Drieschner presented the TV Noir format he had invented for the first time . The self-titled “living room of the songwriters” is a music talk show in front of an audience, in which two musical guests perform acoustic versions of their pieces in an intimate setting, are interviewed and play against each other in games. The program will be recorded and excerpts will be published on the TV Noir website and on YouTube.

TV Noir initially took place in the Berlin Café Edelweiss , but moved to the home port of Neukölln at the end of 2009 due to the increasing number of visitors. In 2009 the show was nominated for the Grimme Online Award , and for the next few years German greats like Wir sind Helden and international musicians like Heather Nova or William Fitzsimmons sat on the TV noir sofa. Since May 2011, TV Noir has been broadcast once a month on the station ZDFkultur, which was discontinued in 2016 .

In addition to his role as a presenter at TV Noir, Drieschner is still active as a musician.
