Text box (literature)
Textbox is the name of a compact stage for literature spoken live. The text box is visually reminiscent of a glass speaker booth . The audience gathers around the text box and listens to the poets presenting through headphones. In terms of content, the text box is dedicated to the lyrical genre of slam poetry . Authors such as Nora Gomringer , Jakob Hein , Timo Brunke , Sebastian23 , Sebastian Krämer and Frank Klötgen have been guests in the text box since 2006.
In contrast to a speaker's booth, the text box is not used for making sound recordings, but for the live presentation of literature. Headlights illuminate the speaker. In the background, translations of the texts can be displayed on two monitors synchronously with the presentation. Another difference to the speaker's booth is that the texts presented can only be received by the audience via headphones.
Since its development by the poet and media artist Bas Böttcher in 2006, the text box has been used at the book fairs in Abu Dhabi (2008, 2009), Bangkok (2008), Basel (2007, 2009), Frankfurt (2006), Leipzig (2007, 2009), New Delhi (2010), Beijing (2007), São Paulo (2008), Taipei (2008), as well as in the New National Gallery in Berlin and in the Center Pompidou in Paris.
