history

The predecessor company of Thuringian Steel Construction Erfurt, TSE for short, was founded in Erfurt in 1898 as Ernst Pfeffer, Eisenhoch- und Brückenbau . The company was initially located in the east of the city of Erfurt on Weimarische Strasse. In 1908 the company was moved from there to what is now the Erfurt district of Gispersleben . After the end of the Second World War , Erfurt came under American administration . During this time, operations continued without any significant restrictions. When the Soviet occupation took over the administration on February 5, 1946, the previous Pfeffer company was expropriated and placed under sequestration . In the further course of the business was transferred to the Soviet Union and converted into a Soviet joint-stock company on August 8, 1946 under the direction of a Soviet general director . On March 1, 1947, however, the company was returned to the administration of the State of Thuringia .

In 1964 the company was incorporated into VVB Mining Equipment and Conveying Systems , which was a forerunner of the VEB mechanical engineering combine TAKRAF . Until the privatization remained VEB TSE part of TAKRAF combine.

Plant managers or factory directors were

  • Heinrich Marx (1947–1955)
  • Friedrich Nowack (1955–1957)
  • Horst Peters (1957-1958)
  • Günter Mund (1958–1978)
  • Günter Scheermann (1978–1980)
  • Heinz Eisensee (1980–1990).

In the course of the political upheaval in the former GDR , the previous state-owned company was privatized in 1990. Due to the poor order situation, which was due in particular to the loss of the Eastern European markets, the company ceased production on December 31, 1992 and was put into liquidation . Smaller areas of the company were initially continued. So was z. B. the training department continued until 1994 in order to enable the trainees at the time to complete their training. An office of the company remained open on the company's premises on behalf of the liquidator until the end of the 1990s. In 1998, in the year of the company's 100th anniversary, Thüringer Stahlbau Erfurt went out by merging with Robotron Büromaschinenfabrik AG Sömmerda.

Trivia

Although the TSE was one of the largest employers in the Erfurt district of Gispersleben in the years of its existence, there are only few references to the operation today. Only the name of the soccer field near the former company premises, the sports facility of the steel constructors , gives an indication of the company. The sports facility, founded 1909 after a reconstruction in June 1984 as the sports facilities of the company sports group dedicated to the TSE under the new name.

The former company site is now an industrial park with a large number of private companies, including a steel trade, which continues the tradition of the TSE, at least on a small scale. Although there were occasional demolition of building wings and halls that were no longer needed, the existing building fabric and the spacious, partly fallow areas still give a good picture of the size of the former company.

The company had a company kindergarten set up in 1967 and a company dental station set up in 1974. A former steelworker who studied dentistry treated the employees of the TSE from then on.

The company could be found in the telephone directory until the end of the 1990s.
