Lothar G. Possinke (Düsseldorf) and Werner Quarg (Essen) designed the white rotunda building. In the opening year it received an award in the design competition of the municipal association Ruhrgebiet . The architecture is based on Le Corbusier's buildings , together with the design of the forecourt and the lighting on the white, light-flooded buildings by Richard Meier and the basic geometric shapes on designs by Oswald Mathias Ungers . The building forms the southern end of a building complex laid out in a north-south direction, which also housed a piano museum, administrative areas and the company's production facilities with workshops and storage rooms. In addition to the actual hall, it also housed practice rooms and artist apartments .

use

In 2009, the state of North Rhine-Westphalia bought the Thürmer-Saal together with the adjacent buildings and, after a renovation, concentrated the acting training of the Folkwang University of the Arts at this location from 2014.
