history

Thai Beverage Plc. was founded in 2003 by Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi when he combined his then 58 companies in the beverage sector into one group of companies. When it was founded, it had a registered capital of 20 billion baht.

The oldest brand of the ThaiBev group, Mekhong , has been around since 1941. In the 1980s, Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi bought all the licenses for the spirits production, which was then still under state monopoly. In 1991 he expanded into the beer market, which was liberalized in the same year, by setting up a joint venture with the Danish brewery group Carlsberg . In 1995, Chang beer , ThaiBev's best-known product today, came onto the market. Carlsberg withdrew from the joint venture in 2003 and ThaiBev was created.

From 2004 to 2017, ThaiBev was the shirt sponsor of the British football club Everton Football Club . The chairman and CEO of the group of companies has been the founder's son, Thapana Sirivadhanabhakdi, since 2008. In 2013 ThaiBev took over the beverage manufacturer Fraser and Neave from Singapore.

In December 2017 ThaiBev took over the majority of the Vietnamese brewery SABECO (Saigon beer).
