Thaicom 1A was a Thai television satellite of the Thaicom series and Shin Satellite Public Company Limited founded in 1991, today Thaicom Public Company Limited, a subsidiary of Shin Corporation based in Thailand .
He was launched into space in 1993 from the Kourou spaceport on board an Ariane rocket .
Thaicom 1 was at the position 78.5 ° East and was moved to 120 ° East in May / June 1997. Since then it has been called Thaicom 1A and was copositioned with Thaicom 4 here . The satellite has been out of service since 2010.
