Thaicom 5 is a Thai television satellite of the Thaicom series and Shin Satellite Public Company Limited , founded in 1991 , a subsidiary of Shin Corporation based in Thailand . The Shin Satellite Public Company Limited is now called Thaicom Public Company Limited .

The satellite, which is stabilized on three axes, has 25 transponders on the C-band and 14 transponders on the Ku-band . The Ku-band transponders are both directed as a beam and switchable for broadband coverage. The satellite will thus reach Asia, Europe, Australia and Africa. However, it is primarily intended for the DTH service for Thailand. The transponders are occupied by transmitters from Thailand , Laos , Cambodia , Myanmar , India , Pakistan , North Korea and other transmitters from South Asia and East Asia . Thaicom 5 is positioned at 78.5 ° East. In 2014 Thaicom 6 was co-positioned with him.
